Meeting rooms

Businesses can’t survive without them, as much as they’d probably like to, you cannot argue with the fact that many fantastic new ideas have originated from the meeting room and how it is often where the heart of the business really is. But unfortunately, despite the thriving activities that go on inside the four walls of the meeting room, all too often they remain bland, tired and underwhelming environments.

Do you ever find yourself moaning and groaning as you gear yourself up for a three hour meeting slog and how many times do you catch yourself yawning and feeling droopy-eyed during a brainstorming session, which is something that’s supposed to be enjoyable and energetic. If the answer to that question, ‘is all the time,’ it’s time to switch things up in our meeting rooms to make them environments that increase productivity and nurture creativity. We present to you three simple steps to a magical meeting room.

Keep it Colorful

Meeting rooms are used to generate thoughts, get minds working, and have ideas bouncing of the walls. So why are most meeting rooms painted a less than inspiring shade of white. If your meeting room is frequently used for creativity and innovation, then you should definitely think about adding add a splash of color to inspire some out of the box thinking You don’t have to go wild with intense hues; think muted shades of blue, green, yellow and red to break up the monotony of your usual magnolia walls.

Keep it cool

Stuffy hot, low lighting meeting rooms are the perfect surroundings for sleepy, sluggish staff. Therefore, to keep your brainstorming team alert, try ensure your room is bright, cool and fresh. Keeping windows a jar between meetings, radiators at a medium temperature, and keeping clutter cleared out of sight are all great ways to keep workers alert. Natural lighting is also very important, so consider installing full-spectrum lighting in exchange of fluorescent bulbs to keep the room bright and fresh when there isn’t enough natural light coming in through the windows. A few leafy green plants also help to create a fresh, natural atmosphere that is perfect for meeting rooms.

Keep it refreshed

We don’t know about you but when us Office Monsters are hungry, we really start living up to our name. No matter how enthralling a meeting might be, if we’re hungry we physically cannot concentrate until we’ve got some food, and we have learnt first hand that people like these are not meeting friendly.

Therefore, it’s important you offer a good range of tea and coffee, and consider providing some savory foods alongside the biccy stash for those who have less of a sweet tooth. But the important thing to remember with food is, to keep it light, eating too much can leave your team feeling sleepy. Set everything up in the middle of the meeting room in the most accessible place, on plates to avoid loud rappers so that the flow of a meeting doesn’t have to be disturbed every time someone wants a snack. Plus, it means you’ll always have refreshments on hand when welcoming clients in for meetings – a great cup of coffee and a cheeky chocolate digestive is a surefire way to get into a client’s good books!
